Last week we did egg-sitting it's when you get given an egg and have to give it all the necessities of a human. Each person has to name and make a house for their Egg. I didn't crack mine until the end of the week. Mine was called Violet because I drew Violet coloured hair on her. We did this for Keeping Ourselves Safe, this showed us how hard it is to take care of a baby and how amazing our parents did. I really enjoyed doing this.
I am a Year 5 at Good Shepherd School in Auckland. I am in Room 5 and my Teacher is Mrs Drummond.

Water Filter Science Experiment
This week for Science we did a water cleaning experiment. My friend Sophie and I did one in a group. Everyone had options to choose from out of bark, sand, cotton balls, and paper towels each group was given two containers, one with a hole in it and one without a hole. You put the one with the hole on the top and the other one on the bottom. In the top container, we put cotton balls and paper towels after we put them in we poured dirty water in.
the last step was to wait for the water to drain. But in the end,
the water is still not drinkable. Here is how the water filters turned out.

Country Study Posters
For reading and writing, we did country studies. Each of us chose different countries to research. I did the Netherlands and I learned a lot about its traditions and different facts as well. Did you know Vincent van Gough the famous painter was born and raised in the Netherlands? Also, the Russian flag is the same colours as
The Netherlands flag just mixed up. I chose this country because
I didn't know much about it and thought it would boost my knowledge. I think the Netherlands is really interesting!

Anzac Pamphlets
For ANZAC Day this year we made pamphlets. Me and my friend Ruby did one together. The pamphlets were about an item and it's owner's story. We decided to do a violin string. There were many books made about the owner of it including The ANZAC Violin. I thought the story of the violin was really interesting.
When the pamphlets were done we put them in red pockets. This is how ours turned out.

Growth Mindset Brain
For inquiry this term our class is learning about Growth Mindset.
Growth mindset is when you have a positive attitude towards learning. To practice having one you need to accept what you're not good at and set goals to achieve it my class made a growth mindset brain with ways to get a growth mindset on it. Here is how it looks.

Being In Room 7 For a Day
Yesterday Ruby, Emelia and I went to Room 7 for the day. Ruby and my friends Ella and Sophie were put into Room 8 with someone else. Though we were split up we had a great day. All of us sat together on the spare table while we did work from our schedule.
We took scissors, a pencil, a pencil case, our Chromebook and our mouse. To start off with we did Writing on Noredink before doing Reading on Freckle and Epic. Then we did a Saint Joseph pamphlet. Before we could finish the lunch bell rang. After lunch, I used the afternoon time to do some more mindfulness
colouring. I didn't manage to finish but I got a lot done. Later we continued with our colouring while calming mindful music played.
A few minutes later it was the end of the day. It was one of the busiest days ever!
